Sara Boyd reviews TPT

Sara Boyd writes:

“it is my hope that this post will not only make people aware of this questionable, and potentially dangerous, version of Scripture, but that it will also provide the tools needed for discussing this “translation” with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.” 1

Sara Boyd compares verses in the TPT and NIV to demonstrate the inclusion of additional words and phrases in the TPT and reveal how these additions to the biblical text reinforce NAR theology. Her comparison list covers Galatians 2:19; Galatians 6:6; Philippians 1:1-2; Romans 2:9-11; Philippians 3:8-14; John 1: 1-16; John 1:29-34; John 15:16-27; Proverbs 8:1-13.

Sara leaves us with this challenge:

“Why insist that it is not only a true translation, but one that restores the accurate and passionate heart of God to the voice of Scripture, as its website claims? Furthermore, if these changes and additions to God’s words are not unintentional, if they are willful decisions meant to amend Scriptural teaching, then what should the response of Bible-believing and defending Christians be? What will your response be? 2
